If we talk about fashion capitals of the world, many would answer Paris, Rome, London, or New York. None of these answers are wrong, but actually the Nordic men are the ones to blame for the more long-term trends. Here’s our tips on how to ‘lagom’ your wardrobe–‘Lagom’ as how the Swedish people say it, which translates to ‘just the right amount’.
Layering is key
Layers, layers, layers. When it’s sweater weather, opt for a shirt and layer it with a jacket or a knitwear over it. Layering is one of the easiest ways to make your outfit a bit more sophisticated without trying too much. How do we do it when the sun’s out and the temperature’s rising? Get a light, cotton t-shirt and layer it with an also light button down shirt, and let it unbuttoned. Simple, effortless, and stylish.
Stick to neutral palette
Too much color sometimes can be a sore to the eyes. It would be better to stick with items in basic color palettes. First, they have longer shelf time, because basic items do not go out of style in a short period of time. Invest in quality ones so they will last longer. Second, basic colored items can be worn with practically anything.
One for all, all for one
Trends come and go, but sometimes we can’t just always follow the recurring trends, right? Purchase one basic jacket that ensembles your personality and makes you feel comfortable and confident in it. Invest in one since you’ll be wearing it for a long time and you’ll be wearing it with pretty much everything else in your closet. One powerful jacket can be your staple item for the whole year.
Overdone is over
Do not overdo your outfits. Back to where we began—keeping your outfit ‘lagom’ is our main goal here, and overdone outfits with too many items, too much textures, too many colors—are not ‘just the right amount’. Standing out in a statement outfits is necessary every once in a while but let’s keep it low-key for the daily basis.
Would you rather be comfortable but not stylish, or fashionable but uncomfortable? Opt for high-quality items that will make you feel comfortable in it with good tailoring and great materials so you can be both fashionable and comfortable at the same time.
